Every Day in May: Day 1

Hey All! So, not only is this Day 1 of Every Day in May (something I’ll explain in a moment), it is the first entry of my new blog! Yay! I decided it’d be fun to keep track of things on here. And I’m gonna spend some time messing around with WordPress, working on my website and stuff using this. So that’s whats up!

So, Every Day in May! Yeah that. Every Day in May is something that I discovered here at the U of R. Though it is definitely not endorsed by the school, it is endorsed by a good portion of the student body. As you may or may not know, May Term here at the UoR is a one month term where students take one course that is usually 3 hours a day, 4 days a week. There are a lot of fun courses, as this gives professors an opportunity to teach courses that they really enjoy. There are also some harder classes, graduation requirements (for those last minute seniors (not me!)). But generally the work load is super manageable and everyone has a lot of free time. So, every day in May, they drink.

Yes, this is a good old fashioned college tradition. (actually I don’t know how old it is, since May term used to be Jan term not so long ago, and Every Day in Jan just doesn’t have that ring to it) But it is a challenge that I was unable to complete last year. For some reason or another, I just didn’t make it every day. So I have decided to try my own Every Day in May challenge this year. The Challenge: Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred.

Yay Exercise! I mean, don’t get me wrong, I like beer, and I like drinking and all that, and I’m sure I’ll do some partying this May, but I’m sort of trying to reinvent myself here, and large quantities of alcohol don’t exactly factor into that plan. Hooray for good life choices, right? *high five me*

This Jillian Michaels DVD is pretty fun. I’ve had it for a while now, and have been doing it off and on, but have never gone a whole 30 days. So, since my last day of my challenge is May 28th (I won’t be working out on the 29th – Graduation Day), that is only 28 days! Thus, I started on Thursday. That makes 30! Yeah yeah they were in April. Oh well! 30 days, baby!

The other part of my challenge extends past May. On Wednesday night I enrolled in Weight Watchers Online. Yay! No meetings or anything, just the tracking and the plan and stuff. But its a simpler way to keep track of what I’m eating. I could, in theory, just count calories, but I’ve tried and its just not concrete enough. I like boundaries and points trackers. So I came to Weight Watchers. I’m 3 days in and doing pretty well. I’m trying to find my way through the food that I already have, while keeping within my points for the day, so that I can buy stuff that is better for my plan. Its working out rather nicely. I can eat what I want, more or less, I just have to be more aware of my portion size and how balanced my diet is, 2 things which sort of fix the problem on their own, lol

So yeah, that’s Every Day in May. I’ll be doing my Wii Fit Plus stuff too, and tracking that on my weight watchers activity tracker (earning back points that I don’t plan on using). I’ll be TAing for Mother Earth Chemistry, which I’m sure I’ll talk about more later. I’ll be working, and figuring out my future. There will be many adventures. This is just the beginning! Day 1!

Thanks my dear! Today was a hard day, I was super tired, but tomorrow makes week one! Sadly, I’m in the middle of many blog switches, so this comment and possibly this entry will probably disappear :( But thanks! And yeah, great minds do think alike. We are awesome :)
